If you want to get rid of the unwanted fat deposits on your body, modern cosmetic medicine offers you 2 options: Liposuction or Liposculpture.
We are proud to let you know that our clinic works with a longtime leader in the field of LipoSculpture and former chair of the LipoSuction Symposium for the Australian College of Cosmetic Surgery, Dr Michael Rich.
Here, we explain the fundamental differences between LipoSuction and LipoSculpture procedures.
What are the main differences between Liposuction and Liposculpture?
Both techniques are used for the removal of fat deposits from certain areas of the body. These areas include the abdomen, buttocks, thighs or neck, even the back of the arms, chin and jowls.
Liposuction involves more complex procedures of fat removal and uses a larger cannula to remove fat. It often requires general anaesthetic.
Liposculpture, however, eliminates smaller amounts of fat and uses tumescent anaesthesia, which is a local anaesthetic, so the patient may be awake for the procedure. There is less downtime associated with Liposculpture as well.
Because LipoSculpture patients are awake, they are able to stand up immediately after the procedure so that the doctor can look for any irregularities in the body contour and address them right away. Thus, there is no need for the patient to return another time and have these irregularities fixed. In fact, addressing unevenness on the spot is the “sculpturing” part of Liposculpture.
Which treatment is more highly recommended? LipoSculpture or LipoSuction?
This depends on the individual patient. LipoSculpture is a less complex treatment with less pain and less downtime than LipoSuction, but it doesn’t remove the same large amounts of fat as LipoSuction.
LipoSculpture is recommended for patients who have a normal body weight, but specific areas of the body that are holding onto excess fat. It is not recommended for patients who are overweight. If you are considering either procedure, you should have a consultation with a health professional to find out more information and determine which treatment is more suitable to you.
