sleeping with cpap machine

Do you wake up tired even though you think you had a good night’s sleep?

You may suffer from sleep apnoea, a condition that keeps you awake at night, makes you snore, and can get your wife (or husband) really, really irritated.

Read this article to find out more about sleep apnoea. If you’re looking for sleep apnoea treatment in Sydney, check out our treatment options at the end of the article.

What is sleep apnoea?

Sleep apnoea is a kind of sleep disorder that manifests through instances of infrequent breathing during sleep.

People who suffer from this condition are often unaware of it. Sleep apnoea is characterised by pauses in breathing, which can last from several seconds up to several minutes (!).

What are the common symptoms in sleep apnoea?

Surprisingly, sleep apnoea can affect both adults and children. It only occurs while you’re sleeping (see name), but it is very difficult for an individual to figure out they suffer from this condition. You are rarely aware that you have difficulty breathing in your sleep.

So in order for you to be able to easily identify it, we have put together some of  the most common symptoms of sleep apnoea:

  • You feel sleepy all the time
  • You experience fatigue in the middle of the day, with no obvious reason
  • Morning headaches
  • Loud snoring, which can make you wake up in the morning with a dry throat
  • Forgetfulness

The best way to put a diagnosis on it is to perform a formal sleep study, also known as a polysomnography, which determines the number of apneic events per hour of sleep.

What non-invasive sleep apnoea treatment can you get in Sydney?

At Specialist Clinics of Australia, we offer all our clients a non-invasive alternative to the traditional surgery.

So if you want to get rid of snoring or if you want to finally have a restful sleep, why not try our SleepTight treatment? Besides being non-invasive, SleepTight is also a safe and gentle procedure that can produce a positive change in your sleep pattern.

What do you think?

  • Are you snoring and can’t find a cure for this condition?
  • Have you had marital problems because of the noise you make when sleeping?
  • Was your health affected by sleep apnoea? How? Would you like to do something about it?
